You could call Erwin van der Zande a contentmeister. He’s got a keen eye for what’s hot and happening in the fields of technology, media, and popular culture. Currently Erwin is editor-in-chief of Bright, the crossmedia tech glossy he created in 2005. For his achievements at Bright he was nominated for the Mercur Editor of the Year three years in a row between 2008 and 2010, the highest award in the industry.

Starting out writing for Dutch lifestylemagazines he made the switch to the internet back in 1994, making him one the first internetjournalists in the Netherlands. At Wave magazine he created the e-Wave, a electronic newsletter covering online news and culture. He continued to do so at Planet Internet being the editor of the online magazine Shift. He had his start-up dot com adventure with BitMagic around the turn of the century. Subsequently he created Dutch we-zine Spunk aimed at smart teenagers. At the same time he was active as journalist, columnist, and copywriter for several publications and agencies. He has also been a jury chairman or member for the Dutch Bloggies, the ADCN Reclamejaarprijzen, the Spin Awards, Upload Cinema and the Hacking Ikea designcompetition by Platform 21.

Bright is a celebration of ingenuity. Mainly in technology but also in design, architecture, fashion, science and the arts. Bright is both a bi-monthly magazine (circulation 55K), a daily news site including original video programming (250K unique visitors), and a bi-monthly event Bright Night, held in Amsterdam. Bright is also available as a free app for iOS and Android. He also developed the first so-called Bright Screenzine for the iPad. In a few years Bright has become an authority in its field. Regularly Erwin appears as expert on television and radio shows, and in newspapers and magazines.

Erwin has been an active player in his field for over fifteen years and is still a frontrunner. His specialties are tablet publishing, crossmedia, internet journalism, online popculture, digital technoloy, and media trends.
