Martijn Aslander

Martijn Aslander is a very populair speaker when it comes to subjects such as the network and information society, lifehacking, marketing and value-thinking. In August 2010, he launched his book “Easycracy”.

Martijn Aslander:,,I’m a 37 year old explorer of the network- and information age. I’m interested in setting things in motion, to develop myself and others. Most of my time I spend learning and thinking. The rest of the time I engage with people and connect people. After reading The Tipping Point, the book of Malcolm Gladwell on social epidemics, I figured out that I am a maven, a connector as well as a salesman. If you want to spread ideas an knowledge like I do, you need people with these roles.”

He has been living of donations for over six years now and feels that this gives him the ultimate freedom to do exactly what he is good at. This way, value has a much broader meaning than just money. We live in the age of acces now, and access will be more important than possesion in the next decades, he thinks.

Martijn is very experienced in giving lectures and does that over 150 times a year, speaking about the new economy, value creation, marketing 2.0, complementary economics, networking, lifehacking, and about his ideas to make te world a better place, with his insights in social and information capital.

Specialties
Creative thinking, recognizing underlying patterns, organising, guerilla marketing, network-thinking, bootstrapping, publicity, personal branding, web2.0, transformational thinking and most of all: paradigm-shifting.

Lecture Synopsis
Society is changing more and more into an information- and network society. Hierarchical structures are being broken down and replaced by more flexible network models which can adjust much faster to the organisational needs of these times. We are living in a knowledge economy where working with your hands is overruled by working with your head. This asks for sharing knowledge, efficiency, open networks, trust, interaction en connectedness. Most organisations are not equiped yet to shift to optimize working with our heads. They are still based on old-time structures like hierarchy, control, fear and suspision.

Our new network society demands that we work faster and more efficient in a world where competing is done with knowledge. Martijn offers tools to do this, such as lifehacking and how to utilise a great network. Lifehacking: tracing information, organizing, filtering and sharing it in a way where you keep track of it all. Martijn is co-author of several (dutch) highly succesful books about this subject. He is also known to have one of the largest networks in the Netherlands and knows how to put it to work to the benefit of all.

The information and network society also stimulates the transition of thinking in terms of “value”. Optimising profit through suppressing costs rarely leads to a durable, long term, strategy. Exchanging time for money might not be the best model. Optimizing value will continue to play a bigger role: which company, which employee generates the most value and what value do you put on that?

Martijn practices what he preaches. One way of doing this is to let the audience determine the value of his lectures, after he has given it. He has created a model for this way of ‘living from donations’.

What other people say about Martijn
“Martijn did a great job as guest speaker @ the EFQM forum in Brussels. It was a direct wake up call for most of the 300 top managers, from some of Europes biggets global companies. He did prove that networking and creating value between people or companies are the only true lasting solutions, to benefit all of us. I do hope that some of the most dusty managers are able to sleep at night anyway after this experience.”
Michael Gandø, Managing Director KE-Burgmann AS

“I already had read some of Martijn’s mind provoking theories and very insightful tips about how to make one’s life easier, but when I saw him speak I was definitely convinced: this man has a message for the world and knows how to bring it. So world, listen to him. Highly recommended!” October 30, 2008

“The best speakers either make people laugh, or totally mess up their minds. Martijn does both.”
Salih Kilic, Owner, Important People, October 15, 2008

“I call him the Dutch Jamie Oliver of Lifemanagement with an inbuilt smart-bug, Highly entertaining, quick on the uptake, very original in his thougts and adresses. It was great fun seeing and hearing his point of view on lifehacking. A truly free thinker, worthy of what the Internet was all about in the first place. Martijn is one to watch…and learn.”
Taco Meeuwsen, Owner, ESOX Holland, October 6, 2008
