Roel de Hoop
At the end of the 1990’s Roel de Hoop led the first wave of Dutch Internet entrepreneurs. In 1998 he co-founded HotOrange, the first real e-commerce company in the Netherlands. Since then he has been involved in many successful Internet companies.
These days Roel de Hoop is a Partner with Prime Ventures, a leading venture capital and growth equity firm, where he is active at supporting and expanding technology start-up companies.
Besides his role as a VC Roel also is an angel investor, and as such co-founder of Makelaarsland, Jaap.nl and Werkspot.
Roel is a successful entrepreneur in Internet and software industries, with expertise and considerable experience in international sales and marketing. He has a good overview of what is happening in the Netherlands and Europe, because of his roles as a VC and angel investor. He of course also learned some lessons during the 1.0 and 2.0 hype.
He regularly speaks about entrepreneurship and venture capital, about how to recognize a good idea and a good entrepreneur, about what companies should focus on and about what determines failure and success.
