Serv Wiemers

The world does not belong to us; we belong to the world. A Lakota/Sioux chief once said this to Serv Wiemers. It inspired him to look differently at our relationship with nature and our approach to leadership.
De Volkskrant portrayed him as an idealist committed to democracy, sustainability, and Native Americans. Trouw recently described his years-long fight for transparent government.
Serv Wiemers is director of the Open State Foundation and a member of the Advisory Board on Openness and Information Management. Previously, he led NGOs such as Transparency International Netherlands. For the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), he regularly works as an election observer in fragile democracies.
He was a diplomat at the Dutch embassy in China and a traveling diplomat promoting the Netherlands around the world. He was responsible for the Holland Branding strategy within the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Following his book Resilience, Serv has given and continues to give lectures and training sessions on the Indigenous worldview and what we can learn from it, especially in the areas of modern leadership and sustainability.
Serv wrote:
