Robin Aïsha Pocornie is a computer scientist, expert in AI bias and digital ethics, and the founder of robinAIsha Consultancy. She is the first person in the Netherlands to create case law around algorithmic discrimination, after facial recognition software failed to detect her face due to her darker skin tone. This experience motivated her to further commit to building fairer technology. She now works realising the mission that technologies in our society should work for everyone.

Combining her technical expertise with a strong focus on social justice, Robin helps organizations and institutions research, acknowledge, and reduce bias in algorithms. She also supports the development of fairer, more inclusive AI systems.

Robin’s depth of knowledge and personal passion make her an inspiring speaker for both technical and non-technical audiences. Her talks are sharp, accessible, evidence-based, and action-oriented, offering concrete insights into AI ethics and digital rights that are applicable to a wide audience. She has already helped policymakers, developers, researchers, and leaders across fields in addressing digital rights and justice.

Robin’s work has been featured in Wired, Al Jazeera and TEDxAmsterdam. She has received multiple honours, including the Felipe Rodriguez Award from Bits of Freedom, a listing in the ScienceGuide Top List 2023, and Rabobank’s TopFem Gen Award 2024. She is also a dedicated volunteer for the Racism and Technology Center.

Her academic background includes a master’s in Bioinformatics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a master’s in Neurosciences from Maastricht University. She received her bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Economics in the USA from St. Lawrence University.

She speaks on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Ethical Technology, Algorithmic Discrimination, Diversity & Inclusion in Tech, and Digital Human Rights.
