Sidney Vollmer (1983) is writer and copywriter. He is a creative thinker focused on digital culture, and works on both commercial and art projects.
Hij is a freelance copywriter/strategist, started the podcast project digitalisme.nl and published his third book ON/OFF: Op zoek naar balans in digitale tijden in April 2017.
His first novel ‘Everything smells like chocolate‘ received a lot of media attention. Not just because of its literary merits but also because of its cleverly designed, innovative iPad app.
Sidney redefined how people read and interact with both the author and the story. He won a Golden Spinaward, a Eurobest award and various literary awards. The novel was republished summer 2014.
In 2016 he published a Twitterdiary called Atlasvlinders.
Sidney has a masters degree in Filmstudies from Utrecht University with a minor in philosophy. He also studied at the Dutch filmacademy.
Since he published On/OFF Sidney talks about innovation, creativity and digital culture in a way that’s not just for geeks, but also for ordinary people. His talks are humorous, inspiring and thought-provoking. He understands digital media technology, how it changes society and what we have to do to create better technology. Introducing an increased focus on ethics in tech companies, improved governmental regulation, regaining trust amongst individuals.
