He leads a company that develops concepts and strategies for his clients, which are mostly sports organisations, sponsors and media, such as Unilever, Rabobank, Delta Lloyd, the Dutch Olympic Committee, the International Ski Federation and the Dutch Football Association.

He coined terms such as sports 2.0 and crowd sponsoring, has written extensively on these subjects and mentored many students (and their research) on the future of sports.

Gijsbregt started Sportnext, the Dutch weblog for sports marketing, in 2010 and at present it is the largest sports marketing community in the Netherlands. He writes for Sportnext.nl and the Sportnext Magazine and for many magazines and is a columnist on the national business news radio.

Gijsbregt used to be a semi-professional cross country skier and traveled the world to race World Cups and World Championships. Nowadays he is an avid runner and road biker and likes to use and test gadgets, apps and new sports wear.

Gijsbregt is a public speaker on sports, the future of sports, trends in sports and how sports work for organizations. He also talks about innovation, creativity and urban trends. He has spoken on many national and international conferences on sports and is regularly asked as moderator.
